We begin the hike by heading east from Kaş toward Büyükçakıl Beach. After leaving the city center, we follow the asphalt road, pass Büyükçakıl, and then take the uphill path on the right, marked with red-and-yellow Lycian Way signs.

Route & Starting Point

We start in central Kaş and proceed toward Büyükçakıl Beach. After passing Büyükçakıl, we follow the uphill path on the right, marked with red-and-yellow Lycian Way signs.

Trail Details

Distance: Approximately 7–8 km (round trip)

Duration: 3–4 hours, depending on your fitness level and photo breaks

Difficulty Level: Moderate. Although there are no very steep climbs, the terrain is rocky and covered with loose, shifting stones (scree).

What to Expect Along the Way

Lycian Tombs

Along the route, you can see ancient tombs carved into the rocks. They are wonderful spots to take a break and enjoy the scenery.

Scenery

The endless Mediterranean Sea is on your right, and Meis Island (Kastellorizo) is directly ahead.

Nature

You walk through Mediterranean scrub accompanied by the scents of sage and thyme.

Golden Tips

Footwear

Do not attempt this hike in flip-flops. Non-slip sneakers or hiking boots are essential.

Water & Sun

Most of the route is exposed to the sun. Bring at least 1.5 liters of water and start either early in the morning (around 08:00) or after 16:00 in the afternoon.

Arrival: Limanağzı Bay

At the end of the route, a path that gently descends toward the sea will take you to the establishments in the bay (Nuri’s Beach, Bilal’in Yeri, etc.). The water here is crystal clear, and you generally have a high chance of seeing sea turtles (Caretta caretta).
